Kia Motors has unveiled the Ray EV, which is claimed to be the first electric vehicle in South Korea. This city car features a range of up to 86 miles (139 km) on a single charge. The Ray EV accelerates from 0-62 mph (100km) in 15.9 seconds with a top speed of 81 mph. The Ray EV’s battery can be fully recharged in six hours using a regular 220V household outlet. Additional specs include a Virtual Engine Sound System (VESS), a regenerative braking system and a 7-inch display for a GPS navigation system. No word on pricing or availability at this time. Nissan has finally announced the Australian price for their upcoming Nissan Leaf. This medium-size hatchback will go on sale in Australia from June 2012 for the MSRP of AUD 51,500 (about $51,986). Just a quick reminder, this five-door vehicle is equipped with laminated lithium-ion batteries which generate power output of over 90kW, and an electric motor which delivers 107 hp and 280Nm of torque. Just a bit of info, this muscle car is equipped with two powerful engines: a supercharged 327 (5.3L) and a naturally-aspirated 427 (7.0L), which can be paired to either a two-speed automatic, a three-speed automatic or a five-speed manual transmission. Nissan will introduced the Pathfinder concept and an electric van concept at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit. This upcoming SUV is powered by a 3.5-liter DOHC V6 engine, producing 265 hp at 6,400 rpm and 336 Nm (248 lb-ft) of torque at 4,400 rpm. The next-generation Pathfinder will be launched in Fall 2012.
