
GM has come out with a new commercial video of the 2011 Chevrolet Corvette, showing off the top of the range model ‘ZR-1′ in action. In case you didn’t know, this supercar uses a 6.2 LS9 small-block V8 engine that generates 638 hp and 604 lb-ft of torque. The 2011 Chevrolet Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle Detective has been unveiled. The car is powered by a 6.0L V8 engine that produces 355-hp with a peak torque of 384 lb-ft. This powerful engine is combined with a 6-speed automatic transmission that enables it to accelerate from 0 to 60mph in less than 6 seconds. The Chevrolet Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle is scheduled to hit the streets in 2011. GM says that a V6 option will also be offered beginning in the 2012 model year. [egmCarTech]

The Chevrolet Volt is one of the most interesting electric cars. The Volt uses an electric drivetrain and runs exclusively from electric power. Too bad, the Volt doesn’t have a gas-powered generator for making electricity to extend the cars driving range. The company has recently announced that the first 4,400 Volt buyers will be eligible for a free 240V charge station. Verizon has purchased a total of 576 Chevrolet Silverado hybrid pickup trucks to add to its service vehicle fleet. These cars will be used by Verizon technicians for service calls in urban areas around the country. The Silverado’s two-mode hybrid system blends an internal combustion engine with battery-powered electric motors to offer customers the advanced technology needed to reduce emissions and fuel consumption. It is a full-size, fully-capable, V8-powered truck that delivers up to a 40 percent improvement in city fuel economy. The Silverado retails for at $38,340 each. [Autoblog Green]

General Motors has finally announced the pricing on the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze, which will be hitting dealerships this September with four available models. The $16,995 2011 Chevrolet Cruze LS is powered by a 136-hp 1.8L Ecotec 4-cylinder engine mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The Cruze LS will come standard with OnStar (with a 6-month subscription including Turn-by-Turn navigation), power windows, power locks, remote keyless entry and XM Radio (with 3-month trial subscription).
The $18,895 Cruze LT will come with a 1.4L Ecotec turbo making 138-hp mated to 6-speed automatic transmission as standard. For the same price, you can also buy the Chevrolet Cruze Eco, which is powered by the same engine but mated to a 6-speed manual. The Cruze Eco also features 17-inch alloy wheels with ultra low-rolling resistance tires and enhanced aerodynamic performance package.
The $22,695 2011 Chevrolet Cruze LTZ uses the 138-hp 1.4L Ecotec turbo mated to a 6-speed automatic. This model comes standard with 6-way power driver seat, leather seating, leather wrapped steering/ shift-knob, steering-wheel mounted audio controls, remote vehicle start, automatic climate control, auto-dimming rearview mirror, rear parking assist and 18-inch alloy wheels.
