Nissan will build the Murano SUV at its St Petersburg factory in Russia. The start of production is planned for the beginning of 2011. This model is for the Russian market only and not for export. It is expected that the St. Petersburg plant will produce 50,000 cars per year once it reaches its full capacity. Nissan will also open 20 more dealerships throughout Russia as part of its plans to boost sales to more than 70,000 units this year, up from around 62,000 in 2009. [CarScoop]

The all new Nissan Micra has been unveiled at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. Built on Nissan’s new V-platform, this compact car is available in two different engine options, a naturally aspirated 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol producing 80 hp and 108 Nm of torque or a turbocharged version of the same engine with direct injection that outputs 98 hp and 142 Nm of torque. These engines are coupled to either a 5-speed manual gearbox or Nissan’s all-new Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). Other features of the car worth mentioning include a new parking space measurement system, a touch-screen navigation and audio system and a glass roof. The Micra is scheduled to go on sale in Thailand in March and in Europe in November. More»
