General Motors To Release Ultra-inexpensive Tata Nano Competitor For Asia

General Motors is targeting the emerging ultra- low-cost car market with plans to produce a compact for around $4,000 in Asia. This new car will be a direct competitor to the Tata Nano, which is priced at only $2,500 in India. For your info, GM already makes micro minivans with Chinese partners that it plans to export, and is looking to expand that product range. GM’s new executive vice president for international operations, Nick Reilly, said that SAIC GM Wuling Automobile Co. will likely sell “significant numbers” of vehicles outside of China, though not under the Wuling brand because GM does not own the branding rights.
