The Volkswagen E-Bugster concept has been unveiled at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show. The car is powered by a 114-hp/199-lb-ft electric motor, a single-speed transmission, a 695-pound lithium-ion battery that offers about 100 miles of range, and a charging port that is located in the front. Porsche has officially introduced the all new 2012 Porsche Boxster. This sports car comes with a sharper front end and a wider rear incorporating a similar lip spoiler as the 2012 Porsche 911. Under the hood, power comes from either a 2.7-liter flat-six unit with 198kW or a revised 3.4-liter flat-six unit for the Boxster S with 235kW. Each engine can be paired to either a six-speed manual or Porsche’s PDK double-clutch seven-speed auto. BMW has finally revealed the US pricing for their upcoming ActiveHybrid 5. Announced at this year’s Detroit Auto Show, the ActiveHybrid 5 will hit the road in late spring for a MSRP of $61,845. Based on the 535i, the ActiveHybrid 5 is equipped with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo engine that generates 306 hp and 400 Nm, paired to an electric motor that outputs 55 hp and 210 Nm. [Autoevolution]
