New Suzuki Swift Supermini Pricing Unveiled

Suzuki’s UK division has released pricing and specification details for its all-new 2011 Swift Supermini. The 2011 Swift is available in SZ2, SZ3 and SZ4 grades, all of which get seven airbags and ESP as standard. The SZ2 model features with electric front windows, remote central door locking with deadlocks, electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors, an MP3/WMA compatible CD tuner with USB port and steering wheel mounted audio controls. The SZ3 model has manual air conditioning and 16-inch- alloys, while the SZ4 variant has an automatic air conditioning, Bluetooth integrated audio unit with music streaming capability, electric front and rear windows, a push button keyless start, automatic headlamps, rear privacy glass (five-door models) and cruise control as standard. The entry-level three door model is priced at £9,995 ($12,760), while the top-spec five door with manual transmission retails for £12,245 ($15,632). [CarScoop]

General Motors To Release Ultra-inexpensive Tata Nano Competitor For Asia

General Motors is targeting the emerging ultra- low-cost car market with plans to produce a compact for around $4,000 in Asia. This new car will be a direct competitor to the Tata Nano, which is priced at only $2,500 in India. For your info, GM already makes micro minivans with Chinese partners that it plans to export, and is looking to expand that product range. GM’s new executive vice president for international operations, Nick Reilly, said that SAIC GM Wuling Automobile Co. will likely sell “significant numbers” of vehicles outside of China, though not under the Wuling brand because GM does not own the branding rights. Tata to Sell Nano City Car in U.S.

Ratan Tata from India’s Tata Motors has confirmed that his company is readying a version of the Nano city car for the United States. The Nano, priced at under $2,000 in its home market, is currently the cheapest car on the market.
