Vlad Icobet has designed the Bionic concept car that is intended for ultra-crowded cities of 2030 and beyond, making the cities healthier. This eco-friendly car runs on solar energy generated by a see-through polycarbonate roof with attached solar photovoltaic cells. The Bionic also uses a lithium-ion battery for zero carbon emissions and has a built-in GPS navigator. [Yanko]

Renault has collaborated with cosmetics maker Biotherm to create the Zoe Z.E. electric car concept that supports a climate control system, which is similar to a spa. The car has been set up to diffuse essential oils created by Biotherm to keep the driver calm no matter what time of the day, using three different scents to take care of morning, noon, and night. The Zoe Z.E. also has a shape reminiscent of a bubble. It takes approximately 4-6 hours to charge or you can swap out the battery in the course of three minutes. There are also solar panels in the roof to recharge its battery during the day. The Zoe Z.E. electric car concept will go to production as early as 2012. [PopGadget]

Folks at Japan’s Motor Magazine have posted a video showing the Toyota FT-86 concept, the Honda CR-Z Hybrid coupe concept, the Mitsubishi PX-MiEV SUV concept, the Mazda Kiyora concept and the production version of the Nissan Leaf, which will be exhibited at the upcoming 2009 Tokyo Motor Show. Toyota has released pictures of the Toyota FT-86 concept that will be exhibited at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show this month. It is a compact, rear-wheel drive sports concept car that is powered by a 2,000cc, horizontally opposed, four-cylinder, naturally-aspirated gasoline engine developed to convey the essential appeal of automobiles in a new era. The production model is set to hit showrooms in late 2011. More»
