
Opel is ready to release a revamped version of the Corsa ecoFlex. The hatchback sedan uses a 95 horsepower 1.3-liter CDTI turbo diesel that consumes only 3.7 liters of fuel to travel 100 km, releasing just 98g/km of CO2 on the three door version. The new Corsa ecoFlex has a top speed of 177 km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 12.3 seconds. [Autoblog]

The Citroen C-ZERO is a “triple zero” car with zero fuel consumption, zero CO2 emission and zero engine noise. This eco-friendly car is powered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor that delivers 47kW or 64bhp EEC from 3,000 to 6,000rpm. The Citroen C-ZERO accelerates from 0-100kph (0-62mph) in 15 seconds and 60-90kph (37-56mph) in six seconds and has a top speed of 130kph (80mph). Nissan has released the first official sketch of its forthcoming NV200 all-electric commercial van, which is based on the standard NV200 launched earlier this year. There is no further info about this eco-friendly car. Nissan only mentioned that the electric NV200 could be used as an ambulance or taxi. The exact release date is still unknown, but the Nissan All-electric NV200 Commercial Van will be released in 2010. [LeftLaneNews]

BMW will release the BMW City/Project i electric car in 2012 or 2013. This super-efficient, four-seater, three-door hatchback is being designed specifically for the U.S. market. Priced at under $20,000, the BMW City uses a water-cooled lithium-ion battery pack that’s expected to provide a 100-mile range. [Red Ferret]

40 new Nissan Altima Hybrids will be used as marked and unmarked patrol cars at the New York Police Department. Price at $25,391, the Altimas cost about $1,500 more than a Chevy Impala but they get twice the urban mileage at 35 mpg compared to the 16 mpg for the Chevy. The NYPD already uses hybrid vehicles in its parking enforcement fleet as well as electric scooters. The department also uses the traditional Ford Crown Victorias and the newer Dodge Chargers. The patrol cars will be evaluated for a year before the department decides whether to expand the use of hybrids for this use. [NYPD News]

The Tesla Roadster may set a new record for distance traveled on a single charge. The car has finished the entire 241-mile-long Rallye Monte Carlo d’Energies Alternatives without draining its battery. The current distance record, a 375-mile run completed by a Solectria Sunrise, is technically longer than the Tesla’s 341-mile achievement. The Tesla’s battery also showed approx. 38 miles of juice left in the battery that is longer than the Solectria’s record. [Reg Hardware]
