Presenter Vicki Butler-Henderson from Fifth Gear has made a review video of the new Volkswagen Golf GTD based on the sixth iteration of the mode. For your info, the Golf GTD is powered by a 2.0-liter common rail TDI engine that generates 170 PS and 258 lbs ft of torque allowing the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8.2 seconds with a top speed of 138 mph. Volkswagen is set to introduce its new Volkswagen Golf GTD at the Leipzig Motor Show in Germany tomorrow. The new GTD boasts a 2-liter turbocharged diesel that develops 170 horsepower and uses in average only 5.3-liters of gasoline per 100 km (44.3 mpg). The car goes from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in just 8.1 seconds with a top speed of 222 km/h (138 mph). The engine is mated to either a standard 6-speed manual transmission or optional 6-speed DSG automatic. The Golf GTD will available starting May for unannounced price yet. [GlobalMotors]

According to the reputable sources at U.K.’s CAR Magazine, Volkswagen is preparing to launch a new version of its Golf GTI at the Frankfurt Auto Show this fall. Dubbed as the VW Golf GTI-R, this new hatchback will sport a 2.0T four-cylinder turbocharged engine with a total output of 266hp. The car will apparently undergo a weight loss programme and will use four-wheel drive system. The car is expected to hit showroom in winter 2009-2010. [CarMagazine]
