Here are the first images of the new Ford Grand C-Max that will make its debut at next week’s Frankfurt Motor Show. This seven-seater will be offered in either petrol or diesel units from Focus and Kuga, as well as Ford’s new 1.6-liter EcoBoost. The car will also feature an increase in length, a sliding rear door, a redesigned greenhouse, a new and innovative interior, a four-spoke steering wheel and folding seats. Suzuki has introduced two new models to its Suzuki Grand Vitara series in the form of the SZ 1.6 VVT and SZ 1.9 DDiS. The SZ 1.6 VVT is powered by a 1.6 liter petrol engine with 106 PS and 145 Nm of torque. As for the SZ 1.9 DDiS, power comes from a 1.9 diesel engine with 129 PS and 300 Nm of torque. Both cars feature a revised exterior and interior styling, ESP, six airbags and rear privacy glass. The SZ 1.6 VVT and SZ 1.9 DDiS are priced at 13,600 GBP and 16,200 GBP, respectively. [Zercustoms]
General Motors has revealed the 2010 Corvette Grand Sport as it returns to the brand’s illustrious racing heritage. The new Grand Sport combines the Corvette’s LS3-based powertrain with unique, wide-body styling and racing-bred suspension. Beneath the bonnet, the Grand Sport retains the LS3 6.2-liter V8 rated at 430HP (436HP with the optional two-mode exhaust system) and 424 lb-ft or 575Nm of torque that can be matched to either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. Corvette claims that these upgrades enable cornering capability of 1.0 g, as well as a 0.2-second improvement in 0-60 acceleration compared to the standard LS3-powered models. [LeftLaneNews]
Chrysler has released a teaser sketch depicting what appears to be the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8. This new jeep will receive a high-output 6.4-liter 392 HEMI V8 delivering over 500 horsepower and 500 ft-lbs of torque, all driven through a revised AWD system. The car will also feature sportier front and rear fascias, large street-oriented wheels and tires, high-performance disc brakes, an air scoop in the hood, a small spoiler above the tailgate, firmer suspension, and a lower overall ride height.
