
BYD has announced the availability of the e6 all-electric crossover vehicle. This five-passenger car is the first all-electric vehicle for sale to consumers in China. The BYD e6 is powered by the company’s Iron-Phosphate (or “FE”) batteries, providing a driving range of over 190 miles or around 300 Km. The BYD e6 is priced at 249,800 RMB or around $38,430. Daihatsu has introduced the Mira e:S in the Japanese market. This fuel-efficient car uses a three-cylinder 650cc gasoline engine, producing a total output of 52PS (51HP) at 6,800rpm and 60Nm of peak torque at 5,200rpm. Volkswagen will build 100 XL1s as a small batch of regular production machines. For your info, the German automaker has unveiled this eco-friendly car at the Qatar Motor Show. Ford has unveiled an electric variant of their new Focus model. The 2012 Ford Focus Electric is expected to have a range 100 miles on a single charge thanks to its set of LG Chem-supplied lithium-polymer batteries. What’s more, the pure-energy vehicle will benefit from Ford’s state-of-the-art SYNC technology, MyFord Touch driver connect, Intelligent Access with Push Button Start, Sony Audio with HD Radio as well as Active Park Assist. Hyundai will release the hydrogen fuel cell vehicle (FCEV) in 2012. With a plan to sell 1000 units in 2013, the company already claims to sell 10,000 units by 2015, when Toyota will only have made its first delivers. Tata Motors will launch a couple of electric vehicles (EVs) in selected European countries before March 2011. Tata Motor’s vice chairman Ravi Kant has confirmed that these EVs are actually the battery-powered variants of the Indica Vista hatchback and its Ace light-duty commercial mini-truck.
