
Honda today announced that they are expanding an earlier recall of Accord, Civic and Acura TL vehicles over a faulty airbag inflator that could send shrapnel through an inflated airbag. The recall now affects a total of 440,000 vehicles. Several injuries have occurred as a result of the defective airbag inflator. Owners of affected Accords, Civics and TLs should contact their local dealerships immediately if they have any questions or concerns. [newsnidea]

Honda is ready to release two new hybrid cars in Japan next year. The CR-Z sporty hybrid model will hit the store in February 2010, meanwhile the Fit Hybrid will be available at the end of 2010. Designer John Mahieddine has created the Honda FUZ-O hovercar that is able to cruise at a maximum speed of 300mph thanks to its high-power turbines. The concept car also features a “fly-by-wire system that relies on GPS to keep cars from hitting one another.” [Yanko]
