
Bad news comes from China since China’s state radio is claiming Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery’s acquisition of General Motors’ Hummer brand will be blocked due to environmental concerns. China is not known for its environmental policies but is looking to cut emissions from the manufacturing sector. For your info, Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery will complete its deal to buy Hummer by October this year. [LeftLaneNews]

AM General, the maker of the Hummer H2 for GM, today announced it’s temporarily laying off 200 workers and halting production of the H2 until at least March. [Jalopnik]

Z-Project is a 8-wheels land-vehicle twice as big as the actual Hummer. It is showcases at the Auto Salon from Moscow 2008. The car features four axles with Avtoros X Trim tyres, specially designed for Siberia’s snows. It’s 6,2 meters long, having a mass of 3,7 tons. The engine otherwise is not all powerful like the one found on Hummer H1, it has only 2,4 liters and 130 HP. Hummer is adding a new version to its H2 SUV and SUT line-up called “Black Chrome”. The limited edition H2 SUV and SUT models are distinguished on the outside by the black chrome detailing that includes the 22-inch chrome-clad wheels, grille, hood latches and handles, fuel filler door, door handles, mirror caps, badges, side air vents, spare tire cover emblem, rocker moldings and hood louver. Hummer offers three exterior colours for the Black Chrome editions; the new-for-2009, Silver Ice Metallic, Sedona Metallic and Carbon Black Metallic.
