Chrysler today unveiled the new 2011 Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited. For the 2011 model year, the Wrangler lineup features a very modest facelift for its iconic exterior design and a new upgraded interior with a more “solid” feel and better use of quality material. The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee will be released in June 2010. The SUV is available in a 3.6 liter V6 model, which is a flex-fuel engine producing 260 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. This engine is said to be smoother than competitors from Toyota, Honda, and GM, and has variable cam timing to allow for good gas mileage. Jeep has announced a special edition version of Grand Cherokee in the UK. Dubbed as the Overland Tech, the car comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, xenon headlamps, front and rear park assist, rear back-up camera, sunscreen glass and rain sensitive automatic windscreen wipers. Inside, you’ll find wood trim, leather upholstery, power front seats, electric windows, dual-zone automatic air conditioning and power sunroof. Power itself comes from a 3.0-liter six cylinder diesel engine that outputs 125 hp and 376 lb-ft of torque. Limited to just 115 units, the Overland Tech will hit UK streets from March 1st for £33,450 (about 51,299). [Autoevolution]
Chrysler has released a teaser sketch depicting what appears to be the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8. This new jeep will receive a high-output 6.4-liter 392 HEMI V8 delivering over 500 horsepower and 500 ft-lbs of torque, all driven through a revised AWD system. The car will also feature sportier front and rear fascias, large street-oriented wheels and tires, high-performance disc brakes, an air scoop in the hood, a small spoiler above the tailgate, firmer suspension, and a lower overall ride height. Jeep has updated the Jeep Patriot, Liberty and Grand Cherokee with the new Rocky Mountain Editions for 2009 release. Included in the package are a sunroof, an uplevel audio package that includes uConnect and SIRIUS satellite radio, alloy wheels and unique paint colors with special badges.
