New 2012 Mazda BT-50 Pickup Truck

Mazda today released the first photo of the all-new 2012 Mazda BT-50. This new pickup truck features the boomerang-shaped headlights and a chrome crossbar forming a large pentagon. The taillights are stretched horizontally, reaching around the corners and across the tailgate. In the inside, the dashboard has an asymmetric design, while four metallic panel strips span from the door trim to the sides of the center console. Other interior features include the audio control panel and the climate control switch panel, which has independent driver and passenger-side temperature controls. [CarScoop]

Mazda MX-5 Miyako Special Edition

The all-new Mazda MX-5 “Miyako” will be released in the UK later this year in a limited number of 500 units. The 126HP 1.8i Miyako soft-top is priced at £18,385 (on the road), while the more powerful 160HP 2.0i Miyako roadster coupe with a folding hardtop is priced at £20,885 (on the road). The Miyako features larger 17-inch alloy wheels, standard fog lamps and a front suspension strut brace for improved steering response. Both models will be available in Aluminium Silver Metallic, while the soft-top will also be offered in Velocity Red Mica. [CarScoop]

Celebrating the company’s 90th anniversary, Mazda has launched a special edition version of its Biante in Japan called the Biante 20S Navi Special. Limited to just 400 units, this eight-seater minivan comes with a voice-controlled HDD navigation system, parking assist and Mazda’s start and stop system. Prices ranging from 2,572,500 Yen (about $28,000) for the FWD model with a 2.0-liter DISI engine paired to a 5-speed automatic transmission and goes up to 2,861,500 Yen (about $31,000) for the 4WD model with the same engine but a 4-speed automatic transmission. Mazda Axela 90th Anniversary Edition

Celebrating the company’s 90th birthday, Mazda has announced a special edition version of its Axela line-up by bringing you the Axela 90th Anniversary Edition. Based on the Japanese-market 1.5 S Style, this hatchback is equipped with an optional 15- or 16-inch alloy wheels, side spoilers, LED rear combination lights and dark tinted glass. For the model with the 16-inch wheels, Mazda has also added several additional features including discharge headlights, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and a 4.1-inch multi-information display. Prices ranging from 1,760,00 Yen (about $19,000) for the model with the 15-inch wheels and goes up to 1,850,000 Yen (about $20,000) for the model with the 16-inch wheels. More»

Mazda has recently released a special edition version of BT-50 in South Africa called the BT-50 EDGE. Limited to just 300 units, this sports activity vehicle features a new exterior styling kit which includes decals to the lower front corners of the doors, new front and rear scuff plates, new stainless steel detailing and some chrome for the mirrors. Meanwhile, the cabin is fitted with an in-dash 6-CD changer with MP3 capability, air conditioning, power windows and remote central locking. Underneath, power comes from a 3.0-liter engine coupled to a 4×2 SLE manual transmission gearbox that outputs 115kW and 380Nm of torque.
