Toyota Japan has decided to recall the latest model of its Prius hybrid sold in the Japanese market due to complaints over brake problems. The company will recall and repair for free more than 170,000 units of the Prius car, which went on the market last May. Toyota has informed its dealers in the United States about a similar recall plan involving some 100,000 Prius vehicles sold in the States. [FarEastGizmos]

General Motors has decided to recall 10,119 Pontiac Vibe hatchbacks over brake vacuum components that can freeze in very low ambient temperatures. GM’s dealers will inspect and modify the brake vacuum lines on those Vibes for free. However, the Pontiac Vibes operated in warmer climate states are not being recalled. [Autoblog]
