BMW Recalls Around 89,000 MINIs

BMW has decided to recall seven models of the Mini series built between 2007 and 2011. The carmaker is recalling 235,535 worldwide, including 88,911 cars in the U.S. The recall is due to the problem in the electronic circuit board that controls the electric auxiliary water pump, which cools the engine’s turbocharger. This water pump failure can overheat, causing a fire. The faulty water pumps will be replaced free of charge. [LA Times]

Volkswagen Recalls 13,500 DSG-equipped 2009-2010 Models

Volkswagen of America today announced that they will recall 13,500 cars including Jetta, Jetta SportWagen, GTI, and Eos that were built between September 2008 and August 2009. These car are equipped with the DSG transmission. There is an issue with a temperature sensor in the dual clutch transmission. In the coming weeks, owners of the affected cars will be contacted by Volkswagen of America to schedule an appointment at their local dealer to have their car inspected, and if necessary, have the car repaired.
