
Volkswagen today unveiled the latest update of their famous Beetle. Inspired by the lines of the original, the 2012 Volkswagen Beetle features four seats with a reclining back to accommodate additional storage. It is available in an efficient 1.2-liter gasoline engine, a 2.0-liter turbocharged model and a 1.6-liter turbo diesel versions. Je Design has rolled out their latest styling and performance packages for the VW Touareg Hybrid. Outside, the car receives a new wide body kit which consists of a redesigned grille, new spoilers, wheel arches, a rear apron and a roof spoiler, all made from Polyurethane (PU). Underneath, the 379 hp 3.0-liter TFSI engine has also been upgraded to produce 440 hp and 630 Nm of torque, allowing the car to sprint from 0 to 62 mph in just 5.9 seconds (0.6 seconds faster than the stock) with a top speed of 255 km/h (240 km/h stock). Volkswagen has recently introduced the Multivan BlueMotion and Edition 25 at the Geneva Auto Show 2011. The Multivan BlueMotion features a 2.0 liter TDI engine, producing 114PS (84kW /113bhp) and 250Nm (184lb-ft) of torque. This van also adopts the BlueMotion technology that helps delivers a 6.4 liters/100 km fuel-economy rating and CO2 emissions of just 169 g/km. The Edition 25 features a matte black roof and black 18-inch alloy wheels. There’s also the black door handles, matte black paint on the underside of the front bumper, black decal trim at the back and side sills. The Volkswagen Edition 25 is available in a choice of 3 colors for the exterior finish such as Candy White, Salsa Red or Metallic Silver. [WorldCarFans]

Volkswagen is reportedly working on their new city car called the Volkswagen Up. This five-passenger three-door hatch will come in two different engine options including a 1.0-liter gasoline with 65 hp and a 1.2-liter diesel with 75 hp. The car itself will hit the market in the first month of 2012 for around 9,300 Euro (about $12,645). [Autoevolution]

Volkswagen will build 100 XL1s as a small batch of regular production machines. For your info, the German automaker has unveiled this eco-friendly car at the Qatar Motor Show. The concept car features a two-cylinder TDI engine, an electric motor, a lithium-ion battery pack and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Volkswagen has issued a teaser image of the 2012 New Midsize Sedan (NMS), which is a successor to the current Passat. The vehicle will be assembled in 2011 at VW’s Chattanooga assembly plant in Tennessee. The new sedan is intended to go head-to-head with the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry, carrying a base price of about $20,000 or nearly $7,000 less than the Volkswagen Passat. [WorldCarFans]
