
Volvo will unveil its XC60 plug-in hybrid concept at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show. The car uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine that powers the front wheels and an electric motor that drives the rear wheels. This engine combination produces a 350 horse power, allowing the car to accelerate from 0-60 Mph in only 5.8 seconds. The Volvo XC60 also features an eight-speed automatic transmission and a 12 kWh battery that is located beneath the cargo area. [MotorTrend]

The new Volvo Concept You has been unveiled at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. The car features a large control center on the dashboard that consists of four main areas such as a digital Driver Information Monitor, a head-up display on the windscreen, a touch screen on the upper part of the center console, and a touch screen between the two individual rear seats. There are also integrated touchscreens on the wood/leather steering wheel. What’s more, the Volvo Concept You also offers a new Alpine “FreshAir” sub-woofer, a wooden floor, and the 21-inch polished aluminum wheels with Pirelli tires. More»

Here is a review video of the DRIVe version of Volvo’s V60. The station wagon is powered by a 1.6-liter diesel engine with a six-speed manual transmission, which outputs 84 kW (115 hp) at 3600 rpm and 270 Nm of torque. The Volvo V60 DRIVe accelerates from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 11.3 seconds with a top speed of 190 km/h. Watch the review video after the jump. More»

Volvo Car Corporation has introduced the Volvo Concept Universe at the Shanghai Auto Show. The Concept Universe is a large, luxurious sedan with a new human-centric design language that honors the beautiful lines of classic Volvo models. K-PAX Racing has developed the Volvo S60 for competing in the 2011 World Challenge season. The K-PAX Volvo S60 has a stripped out interior, racing bucket seats, a roll-cage, an all-wheel-drive system, a new aerodynamics package, a huge rear wing and a new bonnet with large air vents. Volvo has introduced their newest plug-in hybrid, the V60. This sports wagon is powered by a 2.4-liter D5 turbo-diesel engine (w/ six-speed automatic transmission) that outputs 160kW of power and 440Nm of torque, and an Electric Rear Axle Drive system at the rear that produces an additional 52kW of power. The car itself is scheduled to go on sale in Europe in 2012, however, there’s no word on pricing yet. More»
