The all new Polo GTI has been recently unveiled by Volkswagen. This compact car features a new front bumper, new headlight units and a new rear bumper that features a small diffuser and a pair of chrome-tipped exhausts. Underneath, power comes from a supercharged 1.4-liter TSI engine coupled to a seven-speed, twin-clutch DSG gearbox that is capable of producing 178 hp at 6,200 rpm and 184 lbs ft of torque from 2,000 rpm. Meanwhile, top speed is rated at 142 mph and 0 to 62 mph can be reached in just 6.9 seconds. The Polo GTI will arrive in UK this summer for around £18,000 (about $27,846).

Wicked-cool drive train. I never used to give modern VW a second look. But between this and their diesel roadster, I’m getting pretty excited about their potential offerings. Hopefully these goodies will make it to US showrooms.
